It took years in the making, but, finally a group of dedicated parents and teachers have established the  James B Edwards Tom Lee Endowment to benefit the long term planning needs of the school.

The mission of this endowment is to improve the quality of life and enhance the learning environment for students at James B Edwards.

A partnership has been forged with the Coastal Community Foundation who will manage all contributions.

The success of our students at James B.Edwards is a direct result of the parental involvement as  parents and teachers work together as a team.  The endowment will ensure that this success continues now and in the future.

Named in honor of the first and dedicated principal, Tom Lee, both he and his wife are veteran educators in East Cooper Schools.  Over the years, Mr. Lee has influenced thousands of students and their parents.  At the mention of his name, former students and parents relate a story of fairness and gentle guidance in the right direction.  Some of his former students are now parents of current students.  The second generation of JBE students has been entrusted to the exceptional educational opportunities and safe environment at James B Edwards Elementary School.
